Is The Reverse Loan Mortgage Right For Me?
Hello, my name is Sheryl Adams. I obtained my Salesperson Real Estate license in 1995 and my Broker Real Estate license in 2001. I have been in the Real Estate field for over 20 years. I have a natural affinity toward the elderly that formed many years ago through my interactions with my “Aunt Ree” when I was a child. I saw Aunt Ree as a mysterious and magical woman who was spiritually deep in her thoughts and beliefs. As a child, there was no way for me to predict that one day I would take her into my home and care for her when she became ill. By bringing her into my home, my Aunt Ree avoided being placed in a nursing home. Instead, my home was a place where she was able to pass peacefully and with dignity, in a loving environment with myself and my two daughters.
Experiencing first hand the challenges that my Aunt Ree encountered as she aged, I have a better understanding of the needs of my Senior clients. Since my Aunt Ree’s death, it has been my calling to help my Senior clients in any way possible. I even found a way to help my Senior’s remain independent and put in place financial plans that will give them greater security in the future through Real Estate.
As a broker, over the years, I have had some of my Senior clients come to my office seeking help because they were unable to pay their mortgage. As it turned out, many of them had been taken advantage of by unscrupulous brokers who sold them second mortgages or refinance products that they could not afford. By the time my Senior’s got to me, there was little that could be done.
Hence, late last year I began reading about the Reverse Loan Mortgage and I immediately wanted to know more about it. I thought about the financially struggling Senior clients that I had encountered in the past and thought maybe this product could help them. I have to say that initially I was skeptical. I remembered hearing the rumors that “the bank will take the house.” Although the Reverse Loan Mortgage is not a “one size fits all” product for all Seniors, upon thorough review, I realized this was a great loan for some of my Senior clients.
From my own personal experience I have determined that in the following situations a Reverse Loan Mortgage is a good loan if:
a. You Cannot Afford To Pay Your Mortgage
b. You Choose To Turn Your Equity Into Cash
c. You Have No Heirs.
I have enjoyed being able to bring smiles of relief to over-burdened seniors with the Reverse Loan Mortgage and will continue to do so as long as the product proves beneficial to my Senior clients.
